       It’s not a secret that our health system is far from been perfect, but  it can’t be denied that  we have a organized health insurance system.

      Chile has a really organized health system. Our country utilizes a dual health care system, offering public care through the National Health Insurance Fund, or private care by private insurance companies.  There are four ways to pay for medical care: particular is when you choose where you want to go but with your own money, Fonasa which is the public health insurance system, Isapres  is the private health insurance system and Auge, that’s when the government pays for medical problems for free as long as you have a Fonasa or Isapres. The health institutions in our country are very organized.

        In our country there are two different types of hospitals and clinics for care, depending of the type of health insurance that you have, you can go to a private or a public institution for out-patient care . When you go to see the doctor you have the chance to either pay when you see the doctor or go to your insurance company and get a bono, you can go to most clinics with Fonasa or Isapres, which hospital you can go depends of your insurance.  You can go either one of these two options with your insurance plan.

         There are three ways to see a doctor in Chile,  you can go to your insurance company and pay a copayment and you will receive a ticket (or voucher), then you give that to the doctor for reimbursement from your insurance company. The other way is going to the institution you chose and they will read your thumbprint and mach that with your insurance company and see your copayment. The last way to pay is to pay in cash and after go for reimbursement to your insurance institution. You can pick any of those ways to pay according to which health insurance you have. 

              

         In Chile we have a very organized system for health, is not perfect and it has many failures but if we can say something good about it is how we have a very ordered system with multiple choices and accessibility for people3.
